Job Summary:
As a Project Engineer Intern at SteelFab, you will be introduced to several different aspects of the construction industry while working alongside our Pre-Construction and Project Management teams on various projects. You will build on your experiences and skills throughout the internship by taking on relevant responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
Essential Job Functions
- Working with the Estimating department to solicit subcontractor pricing on new estimates
- Performing scope reviews of subcontractor bids and ensure conformance with the project requirements
- Performing material and labor take-offs using company software
- Preparing pricing recaps for review by Senior Estimator and VP of Preconstruction
- Following up with Customers on bids that have been submitted
- Issue requests for information (RFI’s) to clients
- Maintain shipping and project schedules
- Writing purchase orders and subcontracts to vendors
- Preparing and issuing change order request pricing
- Reviewing design drawing revisions for scope changes
- Jobsite visits where you will establish relationships with clients and vendors
- Construction drawing/modeling coordination and submittal review
- Work with onsite subcontractors to identify and resolve field issues
- Material procurement and production tracking
- Perform other duties as requested by management

Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum Education Level: Sophomore/Junior
Major: Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields
Required: High level competency in PDF’s, Microsoft Project, Excel and Word, common computer skills. Valid driver’s license
Preferred: Some experience in the construction or engineering industry through work, internships, or part-time employment
