Get your project done on time, under budget, and with quality that you won’t find anywhere else.

Since 1976, SteelFab has maintained and supported an in-house detailing department. Though our methods have evolved over the years, our dedication to quality has always remained.

What does that mean for you?

Quality Assurance

Our detailing staff stays current on all A.I.S.C, A.S.T.M., A.W.S, I.B.C, and other industry codes and specifications. Being a member of the National Institute of Steel Detailers provides additional resources and training to ensure quality work is our primary focus.

On-time Delivery

Having on-staff detailers ensures a commitment to keeping schedules and accessibility that helps ensure on-time delivery. Over the decades, our detailing department has grown to a large team of detailers and checkers, all trained in detailing to our high standards.

Budget Control

Maintaining a commitment to the newest and best use of technology, SteelFab provides three-dimensional modeling on all projects. This has minimized errors and double-entry throughout our production process and allowed better control over project budgets.

Building Information Modeling

Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been a major component of SteelFab’s workflow since way back in 1997.

BIM was first employed to transfer basic information to CNC machinery, but has since grown to benefit not only our machinery and production control software, but also estimating, project management, and field activities.

Here’s what that means for you:

PRODUCTION BENEFITS:

  • Automated transfer of CNC data for sawing, drilling, punching, and burning operations on beam, plate, and angle machines
  • Direct data downloads for fabrication management software
  • Complete, dimensioned models available for use in Quality Control

ESTIMATING BENEFITS:

  • Direct material data downloads for steel estimating software
  • Enhanced visualization of complex details and framing conditions
  • Ability to utilize and import preliminary design models for budgeting

JOBSITE BENEFITS:

  • 3D Steel sequencing and erection visualization
  • Detailing efficiency reduces delivery lead time

COORDINATION AND MODEL SHARING BENEFITS:

  • Full 3D steel model available in numerous file-formats including CAD, Revit, and Navisworks
  • Enhanced clash detection due to fully detailed steel connections
  • Models can be viewed via a website without additional software

STEELFAB USES A COMBINATION OF IN-HOUSE DETAILERS AND OUTSIDE FIRMS.

All in-house detailing and most subcontracted firms utilize Tekla Structures for modeling. Our team also maintains licenses of Autodesk Revit Structures to aid in model transfers to and from outside sources.

Connection Design

From beginning to end, SteelFab provides unbeatable engineering support to ensure every project is a success.

Connections are a critical part of every structural steel project, which is why we maintain one of the largest and most experienced staff of licensed engineers in the country.

All of our structural connection design software is custom developed by our in-house engineers, and our broad knowledge and use of technology allow us to design an unlimited range of connection design solutions.

HERE’S HOW WE MAKE THE PROCESS AS SIMPLE AND VALUABLE AS POSSIBLE FOR YOU:

  • In addition to common-braced frame, moment frame, and truss connections, we are also qualified in high-seismic, progressive collapse, and blast-resistant connection design.
  • We consult with your design team during the early planning stages of a project to optimize design, fabrication, and erection costs, yielding reduced costs and accelerated schedules.
  • Construction support in the field is essential to maintaining a successful project, and our team provides innovative field solutions designed to eliminate schedule delays and costly re-fabrication.
