As a Structural Engineer Co-op at SteelFab, you will be introduced to several different aspects of structural design while working alongside our Engineering, Modeling, and Project Management teams on various projects. Candidates are expected to complete 3 rotations as a Structural Engineer Co-op. You will build on your experiences and skills throughout the co-op rotations by taking on relevant responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
- Review structural and architectural drawings and project specifications
- Assist with structural design related to the fabrication of structural steel buildings
- Assist with design of bolted and welded connections for gravity systems
- Assist with design of bolted and welded connections for lateral force resisting systems
- Learn the code requirements for wind and seismic lateral systems
- Assist the Detailing team by designing and modeling connections in a 3D environment
- Support the Fabrication team by optimizing fabrication assemblies
- Support the Steel Erection team by developing site erection plans
- Collaborate with project Architects and Engineers
- Review of fabrication and erection drawings for project conformance
- Work with onsite subcontractors to identify and resolve field issues
- Assist the Software Development team to improve design technology

Minimum Education Level: Sophomore/Junior
Major: Civil Engineering with a focus on Structures
Required: Strong interest or experience in the engineering and construction industry. Competency in Bluebeam, PDF’s, Microsoft Excel and Word, common computer skills
Preferred: Passed EIT exam or scheduled to take exam prior to graduation
