Job Summary:
Works closely with Project managers, Plant Manager and Field crew to help navigate the design, fabrication, and installation of Specialty Products. Oversees production team and ensures it is operating efficiently, safely, and completes jobs according to schedules. Works with all C.M. Steel departments, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure customer satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions:
- Review estimates, plans and specifications with the Estimator.
- Analyze project to select best option for detailing job (i.e., in-house or sublet).
- Arrange prefabrication planning meeting involving Drafting, Purchasing, Production (possibly Shipping and Erector) to solicit input and distribute information.
- Prepare project schedule and distribute requirements to all C.M. Steel departments, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Establish a relationship with our customers to determine their schedule and requirements.
- Formulate job data sheets; create job files for Project Management’s use, and accounting file for use in that department.
- Select subcontractors and suppliers, based on both quality of service and price. Write purchase orders and subcontracts as required.
- Monitor schedule progress in Drafting, Purchasing, Production and with suppliers to ensure delivery requirements are on track.
- Coordinate deliveries with the erector, the customer, and C.M. Steel’s shipping department.
- Submit billings according to job contract stipulations.
- Review revised drawings for additions to our work. Submit change order if warranted. Coordinate with Drafting and Erection.
- Handle any problems that arise due to changes or errors. Visit job site as required to see problems firsthand and resolve.
- Analyze job after completion. Provide feedback to departments and suppliers for their education. Provide cost/profit data to management.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required with an emphasis in the structural area preferred but not required. Must be able to read blueprints, be familiar with applicable codes, have good oral and written communication skills and self-motivated with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of an organization. Previous hands-on experience in manufacturing a plus.
